Why You Should Detox


Hey, do you feel tired? 


Like everyday you feel drag-ass tired even when you sleep for 8 hours? Are you sensitive to chemicals at home or at your work? Do you ever get migraines? You know, the ones that put you on your knees. Or are you in pain from joint inflammation? Is this just how people are suppose to feel today.....? WHAT!?!?!

Do you know how many toxins are released into our environment from factories every year? Do you know how many toxins our cars & trucks release? Do you know how many toxins get sprayed onto our fruits & vegetables? Do you know how many toxins are in your favorite fast food meal? How do you think all that toxicity affects our bodies?

Did you know that the body has the innate ability to detox itself? But when we live in such a crazy toxic world, it really takes some dedicated time & effort.

Let's look at the stats:


Every second 310 Kg of toxic chemicals are released into our air, land, and water by industrial facilities around the world. That is 10 million tons (over 21 billion pounds) of toxic chemicals released into our environment by industries each year.

52 million+ tons of CO2 emissions are being released every day which include Particulate matter (PM), Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), Nitrogen oxides (NOx), Carbon monoxide (CO),  & Sulfur dioxide (SO2). You never knew you were getting sooo much with each breath.

Upwards of 948 million pounds of pesticides are sprayed on our produce each year with an average of 29 different pesticides finding their way into your body! Are you getting scared yet?

Propylene glycol…. the stuff in your car's antifreeze? Yeah, but it is used in food colourings and flavourings and guess who puts that in your food?

How about Carminic Acid…. do you know what that stuff is? It's a red food dye used in the fast food industry and it’s extracted from dried, crushed bodies of female beetles.... You read that right, I just said BEETLES! Real life Beetle Juice!

Ammonium sulfate is something you played around with in chemistry class, right? And it’s used in fertilizers too…. Right? And hamburger buns…..??? WTF!?!?

Yeah it’s used as a dough enhancer. I’m sorry, I can’t continue about fast food, it’s just too disgusting. But please be aware that there are many other toxic ingredients in fast food, eat at your own risk.
With all this toxicity, (and this is really just the tip of the iceberg), what can we do? The answer is simply to detox. The harder question is HOW to detox. There are tons of ways to detox but you have to do it in a way that is safe for YOU.

Some people may be able to start a 3 day water fast today and be just fine, or do a 14 day Master Cleanse, or an 8 day dry fast. But not everyones body can handle that type of detox, or they may find these methods too extreme. No matter what method of detox you decide to do you need to consult with your physician, it needs to be done in a controlled way and you should start out with baby steps and progressively work towards deeper detox with time.

The first step in detoxing is to assess where you currently are and what your reasons for detoxing are and how much detoxing needs to be done. This should be done with your medical provider. Remember the number 1 goal is to stay safe so you don’t cause more harm, which can happen.

There are 3 phases of liver-GI  detoxification. The liver is a filter for your blood and is where most of the detoxing happens.

Phase 1

Fat-soluble toxins are transformed into intermediate compounds by a group of enzymes known as the cytochrome P450 family. Once the fat-soluble toxins have been transformed they can be more reactive but bind easily to non-toxic, water-soluble molecules.

Phase 2

Water-soluble molecules bind to the reactive intermediates making them harmless and ready for excretion. *** This is extremely important *** Without adequate intake of supportive substances like sulfur, amino acids, molybdenum, and vitamin B12 the reactive intermediates can attack healthy tissues and cause serious damage.

Phase 3

In this phase your body transports the toxins which are bound to water-soluble molecules out of your body via urination or through your bowel movements. It is very important to drink enough water, get enough fiber and magnesium. You should be pooping everyday!

Now you understand how the body detoxes. How can you start detoxing? You can start some light detoxing simply by eliminating fast foods and other processed foods from your diet, eat as organically as possible, grow your own food if possible, and drink plenty of water. Going on a brisk walk early in the morning could do something amazing for you mind too!

There are many many different ‘detox’ programs & protocols. If you need to do some deeper detoxing, you may want to consider using them. My recommendation would be to start out with something gentle like a tea detox program.
